More than 1,000 people are expected to attend Cleveland’s most authentic Italian cultural event, in support of the outstanding educational experience offered by the Montessori School at Holy Rosary. This non-profit, urban school is dedicated to developing children’s emerging potential according to the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and child advocate. The school has become an integral part of Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood, where students are immersed in Italian language and culture. Founded in 1995 with 14 students, the school currently serves a diverse student body of 110 students in preschool through eighth grade.

In addition to many fine foods and wines, “A Taste Of Little Italy” features both silent and live auctions with dozens of items donated from area restaurants, businesses and art galleries.

We would like to invite you to participate with a donation to the Silent Auction for this year's benefit.  The proceeds from this auction will help provide an education to over one hundred students at the Montessori School at Holy Rosary, an urban, independent Montessori school in the heart of Little Italy.  Your generous donation will also identify your business as a supporter of children, education, and community growth and will be featured in our printed Auction Program, reaching more than 1,000 households.

A Taste of Little Italy & Silent Auction is a culinary and cultural extravaganza.  Last Year's silent auction raised more than $10,000, and you can help us exceed that amount for this year, in order to more generously support the Montessori School.  Proceeds benefit the school's Scholarship Fund along with capital improvement projects.

On behalf of the Montessori School at Holy Rosary community we would also like to extend an invitation to you to attend this amazing event.  Tickets are available for $70, or ten tickets for $650, a $5 savings per ticket.  We also have opportunities for event sponsorship and advertising in our Auction Program.

It is only through the generosity and kindness of people like you that the Montessori School at Holy Rosary is able to continue it's mission - educating the human potential.  Thank you in advance for your generous donation.

Please mail your donation to:  The Montessori School at Holy Rosary, 12009 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.  If needed, contact the school at (216) 421-0700 to arrange for a pick up of your item(s).  We would like to receive all donations by August 15, 2007 to properly describe them before the event and include them in the Auction Program.

Sincerely,

Kathy Doyle

Outcomes for Students in a Montessori Program
A Longitudinal Study of the Experience in the Milwaukee Public Schools

"This study supports the hypothesis that Montessori education has a positive long-term impact. Additionally, it provides an affirmative answer to questions about whether Montessori students will be successful in traditional schools."

"A significant finding in this study is the association between a Montessori education and superior performance on the Math and Science scales of the ACT and WKCE. In essence, attending a Montessori program from the approximate ages of three to eleven predicts significantly higher mathematics and science standardized test scores in high school."

The above referenced document, completed in May 2003, is a scientific study which determines the specific benefits of a Montessori education between the age of three through sixth grade.  Click on the link to read the entire document ( opens in a new window).

AMI /USA School Recognition
While the name "Montessori" may be used by any school, the educational standards, teacher training and materials may vary widely.  Dr. Montessori began Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) to insure high standards in Montessori schools.
Teachers at the Montessori School at Holy Rosary are professionals, with college degrees as well as Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training.  AMI was founded by Maria Montessori to ensure the integrity of her philosophy.  The training is rigorous with standards set according to Dr. Montessori's design.  Each classroom must be equipped with special materials and be well maintained.  Our AMI Certificate of Recognition confirms our support of Montessori principles faithfully put into practice.

"The real preparation for education is the study of one's self."  M. Montessori
