Introducing Remembering "D" by The "D" Team
Demetrius Cameron-Lee Smith entered the world on December 13, 1995. Demetrius lost his battle to brain cancer in May 2008. Through the grief of the school and community, as well as our own personal grief at the loss of this phenomenal child, we realized that we need to share his story with the world.
The "D" team
team is comprised of 21 students from the Upper Elementary Class of the Montessori School at Holy Rosary and their teacher, Anna Discenzo. Based in Cleveland’s Littly Italy neighborhood, the students have a unique learning environment that they shared with their good friend Demetrius Smith. Whether it is walking to the Alta House for gym or going to Holy Rosary Church, the class interacts with people of all ages. They are a very philanthropic group of children who have collected over $14,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and regulary work with the Demetrius Cameron-Lee Smith Foundation to support a scholarship fund for the school and research for finding a cure for pediatric cancers.
Proceeds from this book will go to cure pediatric cancers.
