Johan van der Wee, Primary Class

staff photoJohan is a native of the Netherlands and earned his bachelor’s degree in Tropical Agriculture with a specialization in tropical animal husbandry from Larenstein University in the Netherlands.  He also has a master’s in public administration from the University of Dayton.

Johan worked for the Dutch version of the Peace Corps with the Pygmies in the rain forest of East Cameroon in 1990-91. Returning to the Netherlands, Johan worked 8 months for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture to promote Dutch agricultural products and methods at a national agricultural exhibit.  That same year he left for the United States to work as a volunteer for Heifer Project International in Perryville, Arkansas.  He took care of the livestock on the farm and conducted various educational programs.  At Five Rivers MetroParks in Dayton, Johan was a nature interpreter and worked for this organization in three different parks over a 7-year period.

Johan has primary AMI certification and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Training for ages 3-6 and has been teaching in the Primary classroom at Holy Rosary since 2002.

Jeanne Fleischacker, Middle School Class

Since Fall 2006, Jeanne has taught Humanities (History, Reading Seminar, Writing, and Current Events) in the Middle School. She team teaches with Darcy Peacock and serves as a support staff.  She served on the school's founding board and has acted as a consultant for several Montessori schools.

Jeanne has been in education for over 40 years and taught every grade from 1st through 12th (except 6th).  She was a teacher at Ruffing Montessori East in Cleveland Heights for the Lower and Upper Elementary for 17 years and in administration for four years. She was head of school and a teacher at South Suburban Montessori School for three years. Previous to her Montessori career, Jeanne taught high school for 11 years.

Jeanne’s education and training include a BA from Ursuline College, an MA from The University of Notre Dame and training at the International Montessori Training Center in Bergamo, Italy for elementary and at the Ohio Montessori Training Institute for Children’s House. 

She lives in Cleveland Heights with her husband, Bob, also a Montessori teacher. Their three children, all Montessori graduates, live in New York, Chicago, and New Jersey. In her "spare" time, Jeanne enjoys gardening, reading, sewing, designing, and children of all ages.
